Eastbound, the sublabel of Westbound Records in Detroit, unfortunately had only a very small output of real Jazz-Funk masterpieces.
The album of the organist Ceasar Frazier, who in 1972 was ennobled into the Lou Donaldson group, is no exception.
With a killer backing band and the direct and crisp production of Rudy van Gelder, every track like ‘Hicky-Burr’ by Quincy or Sly’s ‘Runnin’ away’ really gets a ‘unique groove treatment’.
