A very well-known office chair from the 70s – in a very rare configuration: Osvaldo Borsani’s „Modus“ series for Tecno, here as a triangular table with six integrated swivelling chairs. Developed for variable applications, such as office canteens and schools, so today this table would work well as a cafeteria or teamwork-table in an agency.

The ‘Modus’ chairs are characterised in particular by their innovative connection system: the characteristic „spider“ frame that connects the seat to the base is a unique and 1974 patented way of fastening. Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985) was an Italian designer and architect, born into a family of furniture makers. Always a „Modernist“, he founded the manufacturer ‚Tecno‘ with his twin brother Fulgenzio.

‚Tecno‘ over the years became very successful and in the 70s nearly dominated office design, working with architects and designers like Norman Foster and Gae Aulenti, presenting furniture and office systems in more than 40 showrooms worldwide – the first such scale operation out of Italy.

Since 1970 developments were created by the Tecno design centre “Centro Progetti Tecno”. Osvaldo Borsani himself and a design team, supported by engineers, architects and graphics experts, following the decision to present designs as group creations – with a clear and easily identifiable communicative style.
