The British designer Perry King, who specialised in industrial design, moved to Italy in the 1960s to work with renowned colleagues and for the country’s leading furniture manufacturers.

The most famous is certainly the legendary travel typewriter „Valentine“ for Olivetti, which he designed together with Ettore Sottsass in 1968 – or the „Synthesis 45“ office furniture system. Especially for the manufacturer Olivetti, King’s work encompassed the areas of furniture, interior design, environmental design and graphics.

His longest and most productive collaboration was with the Spaniard Santiago Miranda, with whom he founded the design studio King-Miranda-Associati in 1976. One immediately recognises the very unique aesthetic that Italian office furniture from the 1970s has.

Despite graphic lines, all corners are slightly rounded and upholstered. The most striking element of this series, however, is the aluminium base with its concealed castors. While the chairs from this series are common, the tables are a truly rare find.
