The Pala Dining Chairs by Sabadin

These chairs look more like the work of an engineer turned sculptor than the style of a designer, which in turn is obvious: Gigi Sabadin, born 1930 in Citadella, Italy, trained as a metalworker. Always in search of technical and formal inventions, his designs combine profound technical knowledge, as well as the understanding of material and aesthetic research.

Well known are his inventive designs in bent plywood, folding and stacking chairs, impressive through innovative functionality, combining art, craft and trade. This set of 4 „Pala“ dining chairs designed by Sabadin for Emme (Italy) ca. 1973. The circular seat is covered with ropework and the sculptural chairs are made of beech plywood.
