Presentation Cup for Oranges by Meissen Porcelain

Kuball & Kempe are style and brand consultants, tastemakers, interior designers, fashion journalists and also the owners of a charming boutique for tableware and interior design in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in the south of France.

The forth postcard surprise is a special treasure from the art of tableware culture we like to introduce. After more than 200 years still available and handmade in Germany: the presentation cup for oranges. Yes, right, it existed, it still exists and has a magnificent history!

The Swan Service made for the Saxon Prime Minister Heinrich Graf von Brühl is one of the main works of Baroque Meissen porcelain art. After several years of trial work, the Meissen modelers Johann Joachim Kändler, Johann Friedrich Eberlein and Johann Gottlieb Ehder created the magnificent service consisting of over 2200 individual parts between 1737 and 1742. Never before had a porcelain set been created on this scale and with such a lavish wealth of sculptural design.

Today we use it as a table decoration or for oranges (of course) and everybody is loving the history when we are telling them along the dessert … Porcelain can entertain in a very amazing way on its own – in the past and today.
