Gary McFarland – Soft Samba

Gary McFarland – Soft Samba

If I were a friend of Gary McFarland, I would describe him as a musical genius with a heart of gold. Gary was not only an incredibly talented composer, arranger, and vibraphonist, but he was also a kind and genuine soul. His passion for music was contagious, and he had an uncanny ability to blend different genres and create captivating melodies that resonated with people from all walks of life.

Gary’s creativity knew no bounds, and he fearlessly explored new territories, pushing the boundaries of traditional jazz and introducing elements of bossa nova and samba into his compositions. Introducing “Soft Samba” on Verve from 1964 – a tantalizing, melodic concoction that transcends the boundaries of music and transports you to a sun-kissed beachside paradise. Just like a meticulously crafted cocktail, this album by Gary McFarland embodies the essence of a delicious alcoholic drink.
