Eric Kloss – Consciousness
‚Consciousness’ by Eric Kloss on Prestige, recorded in 1970, the fourth album together with Pat Martino. During this time the electric jazz-funk-rock sound of Miles Davis was omnipresent, there are many very good albums with quite exactly this sonic colour palette.
Mr. Kloss can claim the closeness a little more confidently, since he has three main protagonists in his group, Chick Corea, Jack DeJohnette and Dave Holland, all of whom played with Mr. Davis, apparently the jazz talent scout #1 at that time. ‚Viewing rock as just as an extension of jazz, Eric combines the two in a jazz-rock synthesis making it evolve naturally.‘
True, a sometimes challenging, always grooving, ensemble with a colourful selection of tracks – jazz at its best.
