Recorded in 1986 in New Orleans, Silent Nights starts gently and softly, but after Baker’s breathy “Nobody Knows The Trouble I Have Seen” it picks up speed and gets going.
Nonetheless, Silent Nights is a relaxed, contemplative half hour of brass-heavy Christmas music that’s worth a listen once a year.
No surprises, no worries. Baker plays it safe, which is perfect for a Christmas evening after a perhaps somewhat stressful year. Where’s the whisky?
