Walking in Space with Quincy

The shimmering sounds of „Walking in Space“ fill the room, Freddie Hubbard’s trumpet a soaring beacon against the cosmic backdrop. Quincy Jones… gone. Hard to believe. Like a star finally burning out, but leaving behind a nebula of brilliance. This album… it’s like a testament to everything he was. „Walking in Space“… he truly did.

He moved through the world of music, through life itself, with a kind of effortless grace, touching everything, elevating everything. Space… it’s vast, infinite, full of possibilities. And Mr. Jones, he understood that. He wasn’t confined by genre, by convention. He explored, he experimented, he pushed boundaries. Just like venturing into the unknown, he embraced the challenge, the thrill of discovery.

And this album… listen to it. Freddie Hubbard, Valerie Simpson, Toots Thielemans… he always brought together the best, the brightest. He knew how to create a constellation of talent, each individual shining brightly, yet working together to create something truly magical. He understood that music, like space, is best explored together. He was a conductor of stars, bringing their light to us earthbound folks.

He gave so much. His music, his mentorship, his unwavering belief in the power of collaboration. He showed us that music can transcend boundaries, can unite us, can lift us up. He showed us how to walk in space, even while our feet are firmly planted on the ground. He’ll be missed. Deeply. But his music… his legacy… that will continue to resonate through the universe, a constant reminder of the boundless possibilities that exist when we dare to reach for the stars. Just like Quincy Jones did.
