Curtis Fuller had an incredibly rich portfolio of recordings from over six decades. His sideman appearances alone were remarkable: In the bands of Art Blakey, Benny Golson, Yusef Lateef, Freddie Hubbard and countless others, even on the legendary ‘Blue Train’ session of John Coltrane, Mr. Fuller has contributed with his distinctive trombone sound.

The records with him as a leader are always high-class Jazz at its finest, including 1972’s ‘Smokin’ on the equally recommendable Mainstream label. Souljazz, ballads, classical jazz, a great ensemble with a finely balanced atmosphere, with the trombone trademark sound of Mr. Fuller in the center – listen and enjoy!
